When You Choose To Step Out of the Ring
When You Choose To Step Out of the Ring, Guest Post by Eileen Knowles
“I called out your name, O God,
called from the bottom of the pit.
You listened when I called out, ‘Don’t shut your ears!
Get me out of here! Save me!’
You came close when I called out.
You said, ‘It’s going to be all right.’ Lam 3:55-57
You came close when I called out. You said, ‘It’s going to be all right.’
Have you ever experienced deja vu while reading Scripture? I’ve heard the Lord whisper those words to me before. I know exactly where I was when He did. I can picture the scene. I was sitting on my couch and He was there with me. I told Him I was too tired to try anymore. I told Him I didn’t have the strength to throw another punch. I told Him I was giving up.
You don’t ever forget a moment like that.
That moment when His hope and His greatness step in and take down your enemies with one swift blow. It’s that moment when you finally understand with all your heart that God is strong enough and capable enough…and simply ENOUGH. It’s the moment when you can see the last page of the chapter. You can feel those comforting words pumping through every vein in your body. “It’s going to be all right.”
I think this is why I am so passionate about passing Hope onto the people God places in my path. I want others who might be sitting in a pit to feel the freedom I felt that morning. I want them to know, beyond any shadow of doubt, that no matter what struggle they are facing…He IS Bigger!
That was the turning point in my story, when I finally believed that God could accomplish so much more in my life, more than I ever gave Him credit for or ever imagined.
I don’t know your story. I don’t know what pit you might be in. But I do know the God sitting next to you. I do know what He is capable of doing with a willing and surrendered heart. On that morning, years ago, I discovered that God was in NO way limited by my tiny mustard seed of faith. Little is all I had to offer Him. Little was all He needed. “That’s more than enough, Eileen. I’ll do the rest.” My gloves came off. His gloves went on. The rest is history.
Today, choose to believe that God is bigger than whatever you are currently struggling with.
Say it, claim it, believe it, live it!
