People come to me for advice. They ask me the “why” questions. As a Life Coach, people even pay me to tell them the truth of what I see going on in their lives. And as someone who fully believes that God made me, and every person, for great purpose, to live abundant, hopeful lives, I tell them His truth.
Do I actually believe all the “truth” I am telling them?
Do I believe, bleed, and breathe the truth of the gospel – the heart of my heart – Jesus?
I want to. And one of the ways I get to process HIS truth is to write.
I am a writer. I am processing truth and owning it as mine, all the more, with every letter that I type.
Some of the truths I find myself saying often:
When your cup is full (in Christ), every other blessing, positive relationship, and peaceful circumstance is the bonus – it’s extra. When Christ is your life, you don’t NEED all the other things to be just right. You don’t need your spouse to fill you up, or your job, or your kids, or your clean, perfectly kept house.
Because when your cup is full – it’s full.
God really can do anything. Miracles are real. You can spend your life telling yourself how “he never will” or “this will never change” or you can say – “YES, God can, and I am expecting the impossible to happen, because my God is that big!” How we think, and what we expect, does play a role in our living in joy, and hope, and peace.
Our negativity and “it never” attitude opposes a hopeful spirit and a “not yet” attitude.
Jesus adores you. He treasures you. You are His. You belong. You are safe. If you were His only child, He would have died. He doesn’t see all your junk – He sees you. He sees the Jesus in you. You are therefore worthy of His love. You are His adopted, chosen, redeemed child.
Because when you get, really get, that He loves you – it changes everything.
Jesus loves ME.
Jesus loves ME more.
Jesus loves ME more than anyone else.
Jesus loves ME…
More than my Mom loves me.
More than my Dad.
More than my spouse.
More than all five of my kids’ and a lifetime supply of their hugs and kisses.
More than every single friend I’ve ever had, all of them combined.
More than all the love that can be contained on this planet.
HE LOVES ME MORE!
And yet, we fight it. We resist it. We push it away.
We don’t deserve it.
We aren’t worthy of it.
We couldn’t possibly be that treasured, adored, and wanted.
Well, we are. You are. He loves YOU.
He loves YOU more. And more. And more. More more than you could ever fathom.
I meet with a lot of women in a week. And the theme is common. The lies are similar.
I’m not valuable.
I don’t have anything to offer.
I don’t have any gifts, strengths, talents.
I’m not chosen like all the rest of you.
It’s the same lie that Adam and Eve heard. “Do you think He really loves you? Isn’t He holding out on you? How could He possibly want good things for you?”
Satan’s not smart. He’s not creative. He tells the same lie – again and again and again.
And we fall for it.
We can keep falling for it or we can fall far from it – we can escape the lies, and hold onto His truth, and by doing so, live absolutely abundant, hopeful lives.
When He says I belong, I do.
When He says I’m adopted, I am.
When He says I am cherished, I am.
When He says I’m beautiful, I am.
When He says I’m amazing, creative, powerful, able to do the impossible – I am, and so much more.
And when “I am” all these things and more – everything changes.
P.S. Everything. That means “everything!”
