“I will make you an object of eternal pride, a source of joy from age to age.”
Isaiah 60:15 (NJB)
“Jesus sees you as wholly loved and beautiful. Jesus wants you to see yourself as he does. Jesus will believe in you, even when you can’t.”
What if Christians really lived like they believed the promises of God? What if we walked around like the royalty we are instead of hanging our heads in despair searching for leftovers from the enemy? What if we exuded joy in every moment of our day, attracting every person we encounter to the personal and relational Savior, who is the Joy-giver? What if we really got it, that we are precious is his sight? What if we lived like Jesus and loved like Jesus?
Jesus calls us to himself first. He then calls us to testify about his life changing power. Jesus is the perfect Life Coach. He modeled perfection in every area of his life. In all ways, he was balanced and complete.
In her book Jesus, Life Coach, Laurie Beth Jones explores the many ways your life will change with Jesus as your life coach. Some examples of the chapter titles are as follows:
With Jesus as your Life Coach, you will…..Practice Planned Abandonment, Learn to use your Sword,Be Seen,Have Fun, Be Given New Perspectives,Swim Upstream, Be willing to ask for help,Have new stories,Have unbounded Joy
Each chapter concludes with fun and challenging questions to complete in your journal. All of these questions will show you where you need to be letting Jesus and others into your life to help you grow.
I absolutely loved this book. I love her direct, no-nonsense approach in sharing how her relationship with Christ has been the greatest coaching tool in her personal and professional life.
I learned some valuable lessons for coaching, which you can apply to your relationships.
“Good coaches keep things moving, interesting and fun and Jesus modeled this consistently.”
I want to be the type of coach who keeps people on their toes. I don’t want to dilly dally or beat around the bush. I want to get to the point of transformation and help others be free to enjoy their lives and live victoriously. I want to be the woman who walks into a room and draws others into a safe place, where they can be cherished, nurtured and adored.
“Let your ‘Yes’ be yes and your ‘No’ be no. Those who do this move forward faster because they move in the power of truth.”
This has to be one of the biggest lessons I learned in my new life in Christ. It is so essential that we as believers operate from a place of integrity and reliability. When I make a commitment today, I make it 100%. I no longer say yes to things that I am not fully committed. I choose to pursue the interests, projects and people that are moving forward and growing. I give each project and person all that I have and commit my gifts, time and talents to be used for His greater purposes and ultimate glory. Living this out is not easy, because it is not the norm. I choose to stand out for Jesus by being a woman who walks in His truth.
“Jesus came not to reinforce your comfort zone, but to set your small-minded ways on fire.”
Now, this one should raise some hairs! What, you mean Jesus might ask me to stretch and be uncomfortable? What that looks like for each believer is completely different. He has yet to call me to live in a third world country. He has called me though, to give up my rights and my desires and dreams, so that I may be fully yielded to HIS! My dreams tend to be too safe and small. His on the other had can set the world on fire! He has called me to take up my cross and follow him, to die daily and surrender all to live a life of wins! He has called me to share the most shameful and hurtful stories of my life so that others can be free, and so He can be glorified. He calls me to love in ways that are tough and to forgive as he has forgiven me…which is very MUCH!!!
“Jesus went from the fetal position to living and dying full out—with arms outstretched as wide as they could go – and he asks the same of you and me.”
Living like Jesus looks like this:
Honest, Open, Willing. Surrendered, Anticipating, Awakened. Empowered, Healed and Whole. Restored, Redeemed, Renewed. Rescuing, Recovering, Hoping and Believing!
