4 Benefits of TELLING YOUR STORY:
So that others will IDENTIFY.
We are all looking for a place to belong. Some of you read this blog because you find a safe community here. I attended Alcoholics Anonymous for a number of years and the greatest message the shared is this:
You are not alone.
By telling your story, you create an opportunity for your audience to Identify with you. You give them room to be vulnerable. Your vulnerability will likely be reciprocated. In sharing yourself, you have created an accepting environment.
So you can EMPATHIZE with those who share a similar story.
When listen to others share a similar story to yours, you can be empathetic.
Empathy is defined as: the action of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of another.
Empathy walks beside others, holding hands, lifting heads and supporting.
So you can SUPPORT those who are coming out of a painful story.
When you tell your story to another, you are supporting them. You have created a place of identity and empathy and trust. This person will likely be inclined to start sharing their story. As you share with one another, you form a safe friendship and a place to be accountable and encouraged.
So that you can be a HOPE GIVER.
Sharing your story gives hope to your audience. People love to hear stories of redemption and changed lives. The more we share our message of hope, the better the world and the people around us become. Hope produces hope. Hopeful people are dream achievers.
I challenge you to Be Bold and Share your story.
Be supported in your story and support others in their stories.
