Ask and It Will Be Given; Don’t Ask and It Will Not Jenny Price

“100% of the prayers I don’t pray won’t get answered.”  Mark Batterson

How can you guarantee NOT getting something?

Don’t ask.

Not now.

Not ever.

NEVER ask.

So often, we miss God’s gifts, and daily blessings, because we already “know” His answer.  We create God’s and other people’s answers before we even ask.

But do we really know?

From Mark Batterson’s  The Circle Maker:

Prayer is the difference…

…between you fighting for God and God fighting for you

…between the best you can do and the best God can do

…between letting things happen and making things happen

…between coincidence and providence

…between impotence and omnipotence

…between impossible and possible

One prayer makes all the difference in the world.”

What have you asked for recently?

From God

from His people

from His word

or even from a stranger?

I asked for a discount on a Leadership camp  for my kids and I got it.

I asked if Davis, our birthday boy could get a song from the workers at Chipotle.  Instead, the burrito master gave Davis a free birthday burrito.

I asked at ChickfilA drive thru -  “I haven’t gotten one of those cool survey receipts in a while.”  The cashier said, “Okay, here you go” and handed me one.

I asked Gloria, my 7 year old, if she wanted to stay up late and if she did, she could rub my feet. I got a 15 minute foot rub.

We asked John Edwards, from Genesis Dream Boards, a really special speaker to join our leadership event.  He said yes!

I asked Donald Trump for 2 million dollars.  He’s calling me back tomorrow.

I asked my 13 y/o daughter to have a servant’s heart all weekend, and she did.

I asked my 15 y/o to clean his room before I got home, and he did.

I asked God to give me eyes to see Dalton’s good choices.  He does, and I know He will keep on.

I asked  for support. I mentioned to a client that we had a need financially for our building campaign.  She wrote a check.

I asked  for a miracle. I, and 20 women from my church, for over 5 months, asked God to bring us 120 women to our women’s retreat this past weekend.  We had over 115 on the roster, and 102 showed up for the entire, life changing, God-sized weekend.

I am asking Him for strength, discipline, honesty, grace – to get my healthy body to a place that I will keep it for life, a certain number on the scale, but more than that, a dependence upon Him, over the comfort that food, and minimal exercising brings me.

I am asking God to bring our building campaign fundraising to completion, by the end of 2013.  The goal is to reach $6 million for the “making room” campaign @ www.covenantfellowship.com.  I am begging the Lord for His miracles, in His timing, in His provision.  He already has way more than $6 million to give. We need the space.  It’s His dream, placed deep in the hearts of those who want to serve him.

I am asking God to bring us 120-150 Leaders to our event in April.  “Leadership UNLEASHED”, www.everydaylifeline.com.  We are preparing an event to empower Leaders to trust God for their giftedness, to step up into bigger dreams that He gives them, and to encourage them and give away His joy.

Luke 11: 9-13

“So I say to you:

Ask and it will be given to you.

For everyone who asks receives.

“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish,

will give him a snake instead?

Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?

If you then, though you are evil,

know how to give good gifts to your children,

how much more will your Father in heaven

give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

I love YOUR comments!!!  I am asking, and I am confident I will receive.  HINT hint…

If you knew it would be given to you, what would you ask God for today?

What would you ask from your family?  Your boss?  Your client?

What would you ask for from YOU?

You don’t know, unless you ask.

I am almost brought to tears. What an amazing post Jenny. My brother and I would often quote Luke 11:9-13 when we would just reassure each other of God’s love and provision for the other. Thank you for this post. Unbelievably amazing. I am asking too. I will share with you. I LOVE YOU.

This is the truth, I John 5:15 (my favorite book) And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for. Yesterday I ASKED the church body for help and I received it in abundance. Thank you God, thank you Jesus.

I love when he shows his glory so specifically

Very much what I needed to read today…thank you. I hesitate to truly ask God for specific things, even when He has placed them on my heart because it feels selfish, and I know that He often answers with silence or a whisper…But, I know that I need to, and I know that His love is unfailing. Thank you for the reminder.

I pray you will be able to go to Him as a child goes to a mommy with a boo boo, or a need for a hug. He may whisper, and even be silent, but HIS answers are always there – His promises that He alread said are unfailing. Hebrews 10:23.

Hey there-I posted the above anonymous post. Can I ASK you to pray for me please:)? I am in a huge period of transition, and feel God’s tugging/ know where I’d like to be, and what He wants me to be doing, but I have no ability to get there on my own accord. I have made prayful decisions, and feel they were correct, but they have left me in a terrible place financially, and extremely displaced geographically and emotionally.
I feel as though my heart is being torn out of my chest/I am in a scary, mirey place. Jesus Christ IS my passion, but I am having a hard time seeing Him/hearing Him in this valley. I’ve certainly visited many dark, dank valleys before, but this one is the scariest/most difficult.

    Jenny,
Thank you so much for your response and gracious offer. I do not know you, actually, but was led to your blog by a friend. While I do have a support system, anonymity as my heart feels wretched helps me to be honest in my confusion/ need for prayer. I do not have many that I could share this with without those people “trying to fix it”. As someone who has been walking deeply and passionately with Christ for years, I have found that the more I know Him, the more I am aware of my brokenness/raw heart. Unfortunately when I need a human who will just listen, and pray with me without offering unsolicited advice or suggestions at solutions, I find it hard. Thus, I left those anonymous posts on the blog of a stranger;-).
Praise God that we are part of the same family, and thank you for being open to offering help. I do not need life coaching at this time, and KNOW His answers in my brain and in my heart, but am struggling nonetheless. I literally feel stripped of everything BUT Him, which is usually when He works His best. I have just been there before, and do not have any desire to sit in that spot again. I do know His promises, and His comfort, but it is an unenviable spot nonetheless. Thank you again for allowing me to share, and may God continue to grow you, bless you, and use your words to reach others.

Jer. 29:11-13 is my go-to verse, but again, still feels horrible:).
    In His Grip,
    Anon.;)

      blessings and prayers

    1. Why don’t you take risks in friendship? because they dont understand

    • http://iwokeupyesterday.com iwokeupyesterday

But they want to try – all of them will disappoint at some level, maybe even a lot more than they should, but life alone, is very lonely. j
