Blessed to be a blessing, Day 4 of Gratitude (by Tammy Bolt Werthem)

I saw this on Facebook tonight and had to include it in my Day 4 post on Gratitude.  I have made a commitment this month to build and model gratitude and to write about it on the blog.

Tonight, we were blessed to meet some friends from church to see the movie “Courageous” .  Our friend, Doug, was so impacted by the movie that he told us on Sunday that he would pay for 10 men to see the movie.  Pretty amazing, huh.  It was a powerful film about the role of father’s in the lives of their children.  If you have a chance to see the movie, go and be blessed and tell your friends about the movie.

Thanks Doug for sharing your resources with us and for thinking it was important enough to include our group.  MOst of the men in our life group attended and most of them are fathers.  On the way home, I honored my husband by telling him that he is a courageous man.  I told him how proud I am to have him as the father of our kids and how grateful I am for his impact in all of our lives.  He chooses to be involved with us and he lives out his faith in Christ by how he loves each of us.   I am a blessed woman, who has an amazing life, one that blows my mind nearly every day.

I also wanted to include the lyrics to an amazing song, titled Courageous, by Casting Crowns:

Courageous Lyrics

We were made to be courageous
We were made to lead the way
We could be the generation
That finally breaks the chains
We were made to be courageous
We were made to be courageous

We were warriors on the front lines
Standing, unafraid
But now we’re watchers on the sidelines
While our families slip away

Where are you, men of courage?
You were made for so much more
Let the pounding of our hearts cry
We will serve the Lord

We were made to be courageous
And we’re taking back the fight
We were made to be courageous
And it starts with us tonight

The only way we’ll ever stand
Is on our knees with lifted hands
Make us courageous
Lord, make us courageous

This is our resolution
Our answer to the call
We will love our wives and children
We refuse to let them fall

We will reignite the passion
That we buried deep inside
May the watchers become warriors
Let the men of God arise

We were made to be courageous
And we’re taking back the fight
We were made to be courageous
And it starts with us tonight

The only way we’ll ever stand
Is on our knees with lifted hands
Make us courageous
Lord, make us courageous

Seek justice
Love mercy
Walk humbly with your God

In the war of the mind
I will make my stand
In the battle of the heart
And the battle of the hand

In the war of the mind
I will make my stand
In the battle of the heart
And the battle of the hand

We were made to be courageous
And we’re taking back the fight
We were made to be courageous
And it starts with us tonight

The only way we’ll ever stand
Is on our knees with lifted hands
Make us courageous
Lord, make us courageous

We were made to be courageous
Lord, make us courageous
